The postseason begins on Thursday for the Great Falls Americans who captured the top seed by winning the NA3HL’s Frontier Division.

The Americans will open their best of three series against the fourth seed, Billings, on Thursday night at seven at the Great Falls IcePlex. The Ams and Bulls played last in Great Falls this past Sunday. Billings won that game 2-1. The Bulls did give Great Falls some problems during the regular season, going 4-4 against them.

Ams head coach Jeff Heimel says the postseason is a brand new season and he has his team focusing on the little things that can make a big difference in a 3-game playoff series.

“Stressing all the little details and making sure that we’re fit and ready to go and we’re prepared mentally because anything can happen in a playoff series and it’s only a 3 game series and you’re always a couple bounces away or a lack of focus or a mistake away from being on the bad end of things,” Heimel says.

“It’s not really about skill anymore and that’s what Coach was saying. It’s going to be about hard work and we have to find a way to have to do that, so trying to get our legs under us for the week,” leading scorer Lucas Lomax adds.

Below is the schedule for the three game series:

Game 1: Thursday at 7pm in Great Falls

Game 2: Friday at 7:30pm in Billings

Game 3 (if necessary): Sunday at 7pm in Great Falls
