GREAT FALLS, Mont., September 15, 2016 — The Great Falls Americans were out on the ice Thursday morning at full speed to get some last minute work in before Friday’s home opener.

The back-to-back Frontier Division champs return a number of veterans from a season ago which includes players with playoff experience. Head coach Jeff Heimel said he can’t wait for the season to start, but he’s even more excited about his team’s depth, offensive attack, and goaltending. But in order to improve on last season’s performance, where the Americans made it to the postseason semi-finals, Great Falls will need to get off on the right foot against Glacier.

“They’re a good club and they’ll work hard,” Heimel said. “I think we just need to focus on us more than anything. We haven’t seen anything from anyone. There’s been no games we can draw upon in terms of strengths and weaknesses. We just need to focus and execute our gameplan. That will be the most important.”

Team Captain, and Americans Right Wing Tanner Congdon added, “it’s been a long offseason. We’re ready to go, I think the team is looking really good and we’re ready to get back at it.”

The Americans host the Glacier Nationals Friday night. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. at Great Falls Ice-Plex.
