CODY, Wyo., February 13, 2015 — The Great Falls Americans (32-8-3) won all four meetings against the Yellowstone Quake (9-30-4) this season as they held on for a 2-1 road victory on Friday night in the second game of a two game series with the team from Cody, Wyoming.

Great Falls outscored the home team 24-4 during the 2014-15 season including a 6-0 shutout on Thursday night at the Victor J. Riley Arena.

The opening period saw Great Falls score both of their goals. Arseny Ivanov and Austin Krantz passed the puck to Brendan Jester for the first points of the game with 12:44 on the clock. Ivanov picked up his 10th assist while Krantz got his seventh. Dylan Garton added to his season total of 14 goals with his short-handed and unassisted point 72 seconds after Jester’s score.

Only one goal was scored the rest of the way. After a scoreless middle period, Yellowstone received their only points in two nights with a goal scored by Mike McCullen. Kevin Froelich and Nick Ligocki assisted on the scoring drive with 14 minutes to go in the contest.

The Americans and Quake each incurred three minor penalties for 20 total minutes of penalty time.

Great Falls did not allow any goals in the three power play attempts by Yellowstone. The Americans took 44 shots against Yellowstone goaltender Lance Knudson while Yellowstone managed to ring up just 20 Americans goaltender Lauren Massie.

Lauren Massie accumulated 20 saves and has 631 on the season for coach Jeff Heimel’s squad. Knudson finished by swatting away 42 shots that he encountered in the final matchup between these two teams.
