WHITEFISH, Mont., February 8, 2014 — The Great Falls Americans scored three goals in the opening three minutes of action enroute to a 5-1 win over the host Glacier Nationals on Saturday night at the Stumptown Ice Den. The Americans, who picked up their 30th win of the season, snapped a two-game losing streak.

Cody Page, Johnathan Carpenter and Brady Christiaens all registered first period goals for Great Falls in the first three minutes of the AWHL contest. Page scored his 21st goal of the season from a pass from Aaron McInnis that happened at the 19:01 mark. Johnathan Carpenter scored less than a minute after that on an unassisted score against the Glacier goaltender to put the Americans ahead 2-0. Brady Christiaens tacked on the third goal with 16:46 left as Cody Page and Aaron McInnis tacked on their 25th and 35th assists of the season, respectively.

Dylan Garton’s power play goal with eight minutes remaining in the second period increased the lead for the second place Americans to 4-0. Page and Steven Goran each picked up assists for coach Jeff Heimel’s squad.  Glacier’s only score of the evening was made by Austin Givens. The power play scoring opportunity was assisted by Cody McGlocklin and Tucker Spooner.

After scoring on Garton’s score early in the second period, Goran added a goal of his own in the final period to help the Americans get back on the winning track. Paul Sartuche and Max Kaercher each tallied an assist on the final scoring play of the game.

Great Falls, who now own a 30-8-3 record, went 1-for-6 on power plays and out-shot the Nationals 45-27 including a 19-8 advantage in the first twenty minutes of action.
