WHITEFISH, Mont., December 12, 2013 — The Great Falls Americans scored early and often against the Glacier Nationals during first period action on Thursday night at the Stumptown Ice Den in Whitefish, MT. The Americans showed why they have only six losses so far after 26 games by blanking the Nationals 7-0 on the road.

Four different players for the Great Falls Americans added goals (Brady Christiaens, Erik Gatson, Johnathan Carpenter, Austin Nottke) in the first period including the first three (goals) during a 42 second span in the 14th minute of action to lead the Americans. Cody Page, Aaron McInnis, Zachary Mese, Doug Keller, Dylan Garton and Austin Krantz each picked up assists while Donovan Mattfeldt added two in the period.

Austin Nottke picked up his second goal of the night during a power play opportunity for Great Falls in the middle period. Assisting on the play was Cody Page and Aaron McInnis.

Brady Christiaens connected on his second goal fourteen seconds into the final period to give Great Falls a 6-0 advantage. His score is his eighth of the season. Donovan Mattfeldt finished the night for the second place Americans with the final goal with 55 seconds remaining in the AWHL contest. Christiaens and McInnis each assisted on the final score. McInnis, currently leading the team in assists and points, tallied his 24th assist of the season.

Goaltender Evan Hauser had one of his better performances of the year as he stopped all 21 shots he faced against the Glacier offense. Pierre Gustafsson and Ethan Wiese combined for 50 saves for the Whitefish franchise.

NEXT CONTEST: The Americans (20-6) will return to the ice on Saturday, December 14th to challenge the Bozeman Ice Dogs (4-18-2) in Bozeman, MT. The Americans do not return to home ice until 2014 when they face the Billings Bulls on Saturday, January 11th.
