Sebastian Hansson scored on the power play just 2:20 into the extra session as the Helena Bighorns edged the Great Falls Americans 4-3 in overtime Wednesday night in an America West Hockey League clash.

Helena led 3-0 after two periods, but the Americans of coach Jeff Heimel lit the lamp three straight times in the third stanza. Steve Goran scored twice and Aaron McInnis tallied once for Great Falls. Goran’s second goal, on the power play at the 14:32 mark of the third, tied the score.

Great Falls fell to 25-7-1 on the season. The Americans are solidly in second place in the AWHL behind Helena, which improved to 30-1-1.

The Americans are back home at the Great Falls IcePlex Friday night at 7:30 to play host to Bozeman.
