GREAT FALLS – Eight different Great Falls Americans scored while Hunter Hadsock and Trever Millen combined to redirect 18 of 19 shots Saturday night as the Great Falls Americans closed out the opening weekend of the 2020-21 North American Tier 3 Hockey League’s Frontier Division season with an 8-1 rout Butte Cobras at the Great Falls Ice Plex.

Micah Serino earned a goal and two assists for the winners (2-0-0-0), while Joshua and Jeremiah Serino each tallied a goal and an assist.

Also scoring for the Americans were Brendan Monroe, Henry Chavez, Jake Hayes, Patrick Crooks, and Cole Komarek. Connor Doyle assisted on three goals.

Millen earned the win in goal after relieving Hadsock to start the second stanza. Millen saved 14 shots, the only blemish coming in the second period when Diego Olson scored the lone Cobra tally.

Great Falls outshot the Cobras 81-19.

In the season opener on Friday, Alex Jackson started the year off with a hat trick in the Americans’ come-from-behind 6-2 win over Butte. The match was originally slated to be played at the Butte Community Ice Rink, but was moved to the Great Falls facility due to problems at the Mining City arena.

Jackson scored twice in the second as the Americans rebounded from a 1-0 deficit after 20 minutes. His first goal tied the match at 2 apiece. He added an empty net goal in the third.

Hayes, Harley Nyhuis and Bryson Fletcher also scored for the Americans, whole Millen stopped all but two of the 25 shots he faced.

Great Falls enjoyed a 73-25 shots-on-goal advantage.

The Americans will entertain the Helena Bighorns next Friday night at the Ice Plex.
