CODY, Wyo. — Sean McLean’s third period goal broke a 2-2 tie and sent the Great Falls Americans to their second win of the young NA3HL Frontier Division season with a 3-2 victory  over the Yellowstone Quake Friday night at the Riley Ice Arena.

McLean took a pass from Lindros Beard to tally his first goal of the campaign at 15:15 of the final stanza, boosting the Americans to a 2-0-0-0 record, good enough for four points in the Frontier Division.  The Americans are currently tied with Helena for top honors in the division.

Trailing 1-0 in the first, Matt Janke’s second goal of the year knotted the match at 1-all before Yellowstone tied things up again later in the period.

Returner Payton McSharry found the back of the net with the equalizer midway through the second, with Alexi Suchomlin and Janke helping out. It was McSharry’s first tally of the year.

Daniel Rumpke and Blake Billings got the goals for the Quake in their season opener. They are currently two games ahead of Butte for last place in the division.

The Americans and Quake returned to the ice Saturday night in Cody. The game was still in progress when this edition of the Tribune went to press.
