BUTTE – Cody Dearing came off Friday’s walkoff goal in overtime and scored a hat trick Saturday to lead the Great Falls Americans to a 14-4 rout over the Butte Cobras in an NA3HL Frontier Division match at the Community Ice Center.

Payton McSherry, Levi Mese and Lindros Beard each added a pair of tallies, while Jens Juliussen added a goal and five assists for six points as the Americans, with 47 points (23-7-0-1) entered into a first-place tie with the Helena Bighorns (23-4-1-0).

Great Falls outshot Butte 63-32 and notched 10 of their goals against starting netminder Casey Mattfeldt. Drew Scites got the win for the Americans after going two periods, with Great Falls native Cam McIntosh playing the final 20 minutes.

Dearing scored the first two goals of the game 26 seconds apart, and the Americans had a lead they would take to the bank. The Americans enjoyed a 5-1 advantage after one period, and 9-2 at the second intermission.

Brody Boyce, Garrett Peters, Trent Cowden and George Nuutinen also scored for the winners.

The Americans will wrap up the 2018 portion of their schedule Monday night with a 6 p.m. contest against the Missoula Junior Bruins at the Glacier Ice Rink.
