The Helena Bighorns officially have the Great Falls Americans’ number.

On Friday night, in a battle between the American West Hockey League’s top two teams, the Bighorns cruised past Great Falls, 6-1, in front of 858 fans inside the Great Falls IcePlex.

The Americans fell to 27-7-2 on the season and 1-5-1 against Helena on the season. The Bighorns moved to 33-1-1.

Great Falls’ Evan Hauser was peppered with pucks from the jump, facing 47 shots in all, stopping 42 of them, before being pulled in favor of Erik Powell late in the third period, who stopped seven of eight shots. The Americans were outshot 55-30.

Cody Page scored the lone goal of the game for Great Falls, his 19th of the season and his third in the past two games. Dylan Garton and Steven Goran assisted on the goal.

The Americans struggled to stay out of the penalty box; and Helena capitalized, scoring three power-play goals on its eight attempts.
