This 2018-19 NA3HL Frontier Division is something to behold: the Great Falls Americans are unbeaten in five games and atop the division standings, and the defending champion Yellowstone Quake is WINLESS and tied for last place with the Butte Cobras.

The season isn’t over yet. There’s still 43 games left. But it is a good sign.

Those Americans stayed undefeated with a 4-1 win over the Quake in front of 683 fans Saturday night at the IcePlex.

Jens Juliussen scored the first two Great Falls goals and helped his club overcome a 1-0 deficit after the first period. His goal in the early ticks of the third period, which broke the 1-all tie, came on a power play after the Quake’s John Goodson was sent to the sin bin for two minutes on a cross-check.

Braxton Lorenz and Luke Richesin added third-period even strength tallies for the Americans.

In the net, Viktor Wennberg was lights out after the Quake got their only goal midway through the first. He stopped 18 out of 19 shots faced to collect his second win of the year.

The Americans lead the Frontier Division with 10 points, based on their 5-0-0-0 record, while the Quake drops to 0-4-0-0, in a dead heat with Butte for last place in the circuit.

The Americans will face the Cobras for the first time this season as Butte comes to town Friday night at 7:30 at the IcePlex.
