Payton McSharry and George Nuutinen tallied two goals each, while Jack Olson earned five points with a goal and four assists Saturday night as the Great Falls Americans hammered the Missoula Junior Bruins 8-2 in a NA3HL Frontier Division match at the IcePlex on Gore Hill.

For the second straight night, a crowd of more than 1,000 left the IcePlex happy after the Americans increased their lead in the division to five points over idle Helena, who they face next Saturday night at the Helena Ice Arena.

The Americans settled things very quickly by scoring the first four goals, including three in the opening 20-minute stanza.  Justin Ohnstad, Ben Rickney and McSharry gave Great Falls the three-goal lead, with Olson finding the back of the net with seven minutes gone in the second.

That was all winning goalie Viktor Wennberg needed as he redirected 16 of the 18 Bruin tries on goal. Evan Williams got 44 of the possible saves for Missoula.

Cody Dearing also found the back of the net for the winners.

The Americans are on the rad for the next three matches as they face Helena, Butte and Bozeman before coming home to begin a three-game homestand Sunday, Feb. 10 with the Butte Cobras, then two game against the Yellowstone Quake Feb. 15 and 16.
