Goaltender Nick Nast and defenseman Danny O’Donnell have signed letters of intent to play college hockey with a pair of NCAA Division III schools in the Midwest, the Great Falls Americans hockey team has announced.

Nast, a 19-year-old from Oxnard, California, has committed to play for St. Mary’s University this fall.  The 5-11 netminder played his only season for the Americans during the 2016-17 season, and was instrumental in leading the Americans to the NA3HL Frontier Division playoffs.

Nast had a record of 20-3-0-1-1 in 25 appearances and had. 733 saves (0.934 save percentage) while allowing 25 goals ranking him in the top ten in the league.

O’Donnell, the 6-2 team leader from Ventura, California, will attend Illinois-based Aurora University this fall.

During the 2016-17 season with the Americans, he led the team in assists with 67, and scored 20 goals in 52 games this season for coach Jeff Heimel’s team, who finished with an overall record of 41-5-3-3.
