GREAT FALLS, Mont., September 17, 2025 — Greg Sears, the Great Falls Americans Head Coach and General Manager, added another milestone to his coaching resume over the weekend. The Wisconsin native began his coaching career with the Americans during the 2018-19 season and is currently in his eighth season behind the bench for the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) squad.
The Americans needed a shootout to get a 4-3 win over the Badlands (SD) Sabres on Saturday, September 13th that helped him reach his 200th win as the head coach of the Great Falls Americans. His record with the Americans currently stands at 200-117-24 including six playoff appearances.
The Americans mentor has served as the Head Coach for the USPHL’s Florida Eels and during the 2016-17 season he served as an Assistant Coach with the NA3HL’s Yellowstone (WY) Quake where they went 40-4-3 and were Frontier Division regular season champions and won the playoff title.
During the 2015-16 season, Sears served as the Head Coach for the Atlanta Fire U18 AAA hockey program, and was the Assistant Hockey Director in Alpharetta, Georgia. Coach Sears served as an Assistant Coach for the North American Hockey League’s (NAHL) Coulee Region Chillfor the 2014-15 season.
Along with experience in the NAHL and NA3HL, Sears spent eight years as a Head Hockey coach in Wisconsin, spending four years at both Webster High School, and La Crosse Central High School. In addition, Coach Sears has worked with Top Dog Hockey program out of Minneapolis, Minnesota for 12 years. Greg reached the 300-victory milestone as head coach in February 2025 at Badlands with a 4-2 victory.
Greg gives credit to the athletes that have played in his program throughout the years. “I have been blessed by a good support system and I am really looking forward to the future with the current group,” said Greg Sears.
