Brendan Jester netted a hat trick in the Great Falls Americans’ first game of the season, but he didn’t even win Player of the Week in the Frontier Division.

Ever since Minnesotan Jeff Heimel took over the organization, the Great Falls Americans have steadily improved.rnrnEntering his fourth season behind the bench, which starts Friday night at 7:30 p.m. against the Glacier Nationals at the Great Falls IcePlex, Heimel has brought the Americans back from a one-win season in 2011-12 and last season directed Great Falls to a Frontier Division championship.

GREAT FALLS, Mont., September 18, 2015 — The Great Falls franchise, under the direction of head coach Jeff Heimel, scored multiple points in each period to post a 12-1 victory against the Havre, Montana based squad in front of 702 spectators for the season opener.

GREAT FALLS -It's been 14 years since the Americans were able to hang a banner in their arena. But now that they're the defending Frontier Division champions, they admit that it's a title that they're still getting used to.rnrn"It's exciting. It's a new position to be in," says Americans head coach Jeff Heimel. "The whole last three years we're trying to get there. To defend it as opposed to taking it away from someone is a little bit different."

Matthew Larson, a junior at C.M. Russell High, is a forward on the Great Falls Americans Junior A hockey team. After moving from his hometown of Anchorage, Alaska to Great Falls a few weeks ago, he attended his first day of school Wednesday. His brother, Josh, played on the team last year and is expected to be a key contributor again this season.

The Kenai River Brown Bears, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that goaltender Evan Hauser has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at the University of Alaska-Anchorage (UAA). UAA are members from the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA).
