Cody Dearing had a goal and an assist as the Great Falls Americans defeated the Bozeman Icedogs 5-2 Saturday night in a season opening NA3HL hockey game at the Great Falls IcePlex.

The Americans of coach Jeff Heimel also got goals from Garrett Peters, Matt Janke, Luke Richesin and Nate Simpson. Payton McSharry, Tanner Rath, Braxton Lorenz,  and Adam Vandebos notched assists for Great Falls.

Mack Willey was the victorious goaltender stopping 14 of 16 shots.

The Americans who outshot the Icedogs 59-16, broke away from a 2-2 tie by scoring three unanswered goals in the second period.
